SAE 10W-30 5.3 L 3.8L Ecotec-generation pushrod V6 Castrol GTX 10W-30 / Penrite Everyday 10W-40 5.3L figure sourced from a CarsGuide Q&A on a 1998-era V6 Commodore. Holden\'s factory handbook spec for this era was 10W-30 do not use 20W-50, which is too heavy for this engine\'s oil-pump clearances. VZ also introduced the Alloytec 3.6L V6 late in its run alongside the outgoing Ecotec 3.8L — see VE/VF entry for Alloytec-specific figures if fitted.

The Executive and Acclaim were both dropped in favour of the Omega. The executive debuted with the Commodore with the VH, introduced in 1981. The Acclaim had been with the Commodore since the release of the VR in 1993.

The Omega trim level, used to mainly target fleet buyers, available for families and private buyers. The Omega was effectively the base model fro the VE.
