The VY Commodore is the fourth model to use the Ecotec V6 and the third to use the LS1 V8. Generally speaking the bugs have been worked out, but with updating electrics and other gadgets problems may not show themselves at first.
Oil leaks near the oil filter in V6 engine
Noisy belt in V6 engine on cold start ups. Noisy belt on idle in V6 engine stemming from misaligned power steering pump and pulley.
Rough idle in V8 engine
Misaligned exhaust tips which could potentially melt back bumper
Corroded clutch slave cylinders
Squeaky or soft/ spongy clutch
Noisy brake booster check valve
Numerous ABS issues
Faulty low speed engine fan relay which leaves fan running causing flat battery
Using the horn may also trigger functions found on the steering wheel buttons
Tail light globes can have a short lifespan
Incorrect fuel gauge readings at under a quarter of a tank
Thud noise present when operating cruise control
Malfunctioning power locking system which can be caused by electrical/ static interference
Play or shuddering in power steering
Whistling/ wind noise when air conditioning fan is in use
Misaligned door/ boot panels which can cause wind noise when driving and water leaks
Glove box light can stay on even if glove box is shut, causing flat battery
