Holden VE Commodore part numbers
The VE Commodore ushered in a new era for Holden. It featured a number of notable changes and upgrades.
The VE is the 14th update and is the first car in the 4th generation of Holden Commodores. I
The VE Commodore is the first Commodore developed exclusively in Australia. Other models are generally based around the Opel Omega.
The VE sedan took 7 years for Holden to develop and costs around $1 billion to develop, design and manufacture. The development was substantial, the most invested in any Holden model.
The release dates of various body shapes are staggered. The first sedans, released in July 2006. The VE Wagon, introduced in July 2008. The Ute was first produced in August 2006. The Series 2, released in late 2010.
The VE spent more time on the production line than any Commodore. Consequently the VE would sell better than any of the other Commodores.
The VE sedan design became revised to give it a sportier look when compared to other family size wagons on the market.
The Executive and Acclaim were both dropped in favour of the Omega. The executive debuted with the Commodore with the VH, introduced in 1981. The Acclaim had been with the Commodore since the release of the VR in 1993.
The Omega trim level, used to mainly target fleet buyers, available for families and private buyers. The Omega was effectively the base model fro the VE.
